Phonemic awareness, letter formation, oral segmenting, encoding and decoding are featured throughout Books 1 to 8. In Book 9, the Multi-skills Activities pages are replaced with featured Spelling Word Banks (for example: ‘Same grapheme, different sounds’; ‘Same sound, different graphemes’)

About No Nonsense Phonics Skills Pupil Book 2+

The No Nonsense Phonics Skills Pupil Book 2+ is an extra, optional book that Debbie Hepplewhite has created by special request. This is because many schools have existing reading book schemes which introduce some letter/s – sound correspondences earlier than they are introduced in Debbie’s No Nonsense Phonics and Phonics International programmes.

The following letter/s – sound correspondences have been used to create Pupil Book 2+ thereby facilitating a range of reading book schemes to be used with the No Nonsense Phonics and Phonics International programmes:

If teachers use this optional book, continue to use the No Nonsense Phonics Skills Pupil Books 3 to 9 in full – that is, don’t ‘skip’ the code of Pupil Book 2+ when it appears in the later books.

There is no Teacher Book for this optional Pupil Book 2+. Refer to Teacher Book 2 for general guidance.
