Private tutors who have completed Debbie’s Phonics Training Online course can request to be listed on this page. Please note that we cannot vouch for the tutors’ experience and/or ability – and that any arrangements should be based on following your own due diligence as to their suitability.
Debbie highly recommends that learners’ parents or carers are always present during ‘lessons’ provided by tutors – and that certain qualifications and safeguarding may be necessary depending on your country’s requirements.

Biographical Info
I have spent the past 22 years working in primary and middle school KS1, 2 and lower KS3 supporting children with literacy and specific learning difficulties. During this period, I have undergone training for teaching students with dyslexic difficulties. Phonics has been paramount throughout my career and I have used it confidently in 1:1 and group interventions, following cumulative and structured programmes.
More recently, I have been working with year 6 children who are striving to pass their SATS exams. As a result of this, I am familiar with the current required standards in grammar, spelling and punctuation.
In 2016, I completed the Phonics International online phonics course and have since found the resources invaluable for intervention purposes. The abundance of well put together resources, including the English Alphabetic Code chart, has made the teaching of phonics more meaningful to me and my students.
Online tutoring is something I have not yet tried, however I would like to add this whole new dimension to my experience in phonics teaching.
I have completed the necessary police checks and am currently up to date with Safeguarding training for primary aged children.
